Well it is a long time since I've updated this site, but it is now time, and for very good reason! My attempt at retirement has apparently failed as my brother Dale and I are now involved in a new startup venture called BizTek Recruitment Limited. Recruitment will be masterminded from Southend and all the technical side and admin will be from Bedford. The concept is pretty radical in that we intend BizTek to be a company located in "virtual" space. No offices and low overheads, hence the reference to the technical side of the business - provision of remote working facilities (central server, VPN, Intranet and Internet, the web, voice-over-IP telephony, video conferencing and social networking as a recruitment tool etc). I've now got another XP machine, so I've loaded XAMPP which gives me all I need for a web server, including PHP, MySQL and FileZilla FTP Server. So the photo album is now back on-line (see the tab at the top of the page). I've loaded a few recent albums, including Will & Tess's blessing, last year's sailing in Croatia and Neil in Zambia. It now has a slide show facility - try it!

Well, things have moved on again! I'm working on contract (for 2 or 3 weeks!) since January and so have no time to update the site.
I really couldn't justify leaving an Ubuntu server turned on just for this, so I've now loaded Apache server onto the Vista machine (I didn't want to use IIS) - a second instance of Apache, as it is already running as part of the music server. So the site is back, but without PHP as yet so no photo album. I'll get round to that next.

Since the Vista machine descended into torpor and needed rebuilding the photo album has been unavailable. Well, it is back on the Linux/Ubuntu server!
I'll add more of the albums in time, but just in case you want to see how little there is currently, I've added a 'photos' tab at the top.
I'll add family photos in private albums - to see those you'll need to log in with a username and password as follows:
username - my first name
password - the name of the road we live on

Happy new year! This is the start of the new "home" website, using an open source template downloaded from the net. You may find the site is full of spurious links and topics left over from the template, but these will be replaced over time. Honest guv!
The content is spread over a number of servers, so you may be redirected when you click on a link.

Sheila Barry

Sheila was much loved and would happily take the kids for days on end, showing them the sights of London. This may have had the effect of making them all want to live in London, which they all do now.
We scanned a number of her family photos and have added comments - you can see them here

The Hart Family Challenge

This "weight loss challenge" was first attempted in 2008, with spectacular results.
Between Christine, Marigold and Tom the challenge was to lose 21lbs with Marigold romping home to a spectacular victory, although the weights did converge as the tempatations of Xmas drew near!
The new "Extended Hart Family Challenge" starts now with Penny joining the fray. I'll not publish the links here, for fear of being lynched by the laggards!

Other bits and pieces
